Scarecrows

People have different feelings about scarecrows. Some see them as valuable "farmhands" who do their part to scare birds and animals away from gardens and fields. Others think of the silly, friendly scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz. But others find scarecrows quite frightening — humanoid apparitions lurking among dark rows of crops, just waiting to snag an innocent passerby and make a sacrifice to the ancient god of the fields!

We don't blame people for that last one, as some scarecrows are far scarier to us than they are to crows. Sinister sackcloth faces, ragged farm clothes, and twisted bodies make them super creepy, even if they're just hanging around on a farm.
